What he did over the long weekends...

This month we are all so fortunate to have a couple of weeks of long weekends due to the festive seasons. Hubby's company was lucky to have been spared for shutting down unlike most companies here so he still has to go to work.

However, there was not much things to do as most of his colleagues went off for their long vacations so he only do planning in office. When he returns home, he has got a much bigger project... He has been busy upgrading all our PCs. He wants to upgrade mine to be more powerful so I can do more works and it works faster. Therefore, my PC gets a system memory upgraded which is really cool.

Next he intend to help my father in law to upgrade his but I'm not sure what he gonna do. All I know is, later we need to go to the shops to get more stuff for that project!

Ideas for Christmas pressies

I think most of us has the same problem whenever we need to buy gifts or presents for our family or friends. It is so especially Christmas. Though I don't really celebrate Christmas but I do buy Christmas pressies occasionally for those I love.

With the lousy economy and not working for such a long time, I don't think I could afford any high priced or expensive gifts these days. Last time I used to buy my mom gold jewelry but now I could no longer afford. However, I think I still could buy her some cool Designer Jewelry which is not that bad as they have more interesting designs as compared to those old fashion gold jewelry that we normally find here and at a lot cheaper.

If you ever go to Las Vegas

Our trip to Las Vegas has left us with lots of fond memories even when we have a little baby traveling with us at that time. The only thing is, we did not get to spend much time checking out all the casinos but we had lots of fun by just walking along the Strip.

We did not really plan where to go initially but thanks to having a good las vegas strip map we managed to see most of the attractions along that part of town. WE even drove to the old Vegas just so we could catch the live show at night.

If there's a chance to return, we will definitely spend more time checking the place out.

When away during the festive seasons

Next week will be Christmas and in another week will be New Year. Most of us has planned to travel during these two weeks since it coincide with weekends. We thought of traveling ourselves too but has yet to decide where to go.

With the bad economy, we read that there are more break-ins in the past months around the country so many of us are quite worried to leave our homes empty for an extended period. Even most of us have good security systems fixed but when these crooks target your place, there's not much way to stop them when you are so out of reach when it happens.

The police has offered some helps by providing extra patrols around all the neighborhood but most of us still doubt that this could be an effective way to combat these crooks.

I'm a shopping bags junkie

That day while rummaging through some of my old junks I found a box filled with all the paper bags which I have collected over the years when I was in Singapore. Yeah, I used to be a shopping bags junkie then. You won't believe that I actually buy something from a particular retailer because I want to have their bags!

In fact over the years many retailers has been using these shopping bags as promotional bags for their company or brands. I think this is one of the most effective advertising and promotion strategy as they get free publicity if people carry these bags around.

My photo was featured in Schmap Las Vegas Guide!!!

This is a long over due post which I have totally forgotten about.

More than a month ago, the Managing Editor of Schmap contacted me about one of my photos of Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas posted in Flickr.com was being shortlisted in their guide, The Fifth Edition of Schmap Las Vegas Guide.

Of course I was ecstatic! In fact Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas is one of my favorite place beside the musical fountain at the Ballagio Hotel. The photo is taken at the front entrance leading to the hotel.

I have added the map widget onto my side bar... however, my photo did not load when it was my turn so I have captured it from the actual site for this post purpose...

I have not been using my Flickr's account for a long time since I have my own server. Anyhow, I am considering of getting a PRO account so I can upload some great photos to share with people on the net... Will see how things goes...

I need to thank my hubby for taking this great shot! :)

So Lucky!

Hubby's trip to Bangkok two months ago was postponed due to the unrest in the city. Then he rescheduled the trip again to last month and he was lucky he made it there and back without any happenings.

If he were to go this month he might be stuck in Bangkok airport now as he flew there on 27 Oct!!!! Imagine if he goes one month late and he could be sleeping in the airport not knowing his fate!

Be it boy or girl!

When I gave birth to my first born, he did not have the luxury to sleep in his own room as we do not have any extra room in MIL's house so he has been co-sleeping with us till now.

However, we might be getting our own home next year and this will likely gave our next born a chance to sleep in his/her own room. And this excited mommy has been really 'kiasu' to start looking around for baby bedding even though there is still no sign of any baby yet! :P

Anyway, next year will be the year of Ox or Moo-moo cow and what is more appropriate than to decorate the baby's room other than the theme???!!! Don't these look so cool??? :P So, be it boy or girl this theme fits!

Undecided

When hubby told me we need to go for an international next year travel last week I was on cloud nine literally but after the excitement wear off... the questions came... Where should we go?

We have been to Europe and Some part of US West Coast so now we are not sure where should we go on our next vacation. I have wanted to go to Florida but the flight will either freak me or my monkey out... a freaking 20 hours or more! Count in all those transit time babe! :(

Then we short list to NYC or even just to Germany and France but the thought of chasing after the train in Europe with a toddler can be hellish... and NYC... what is there to see except Statute of Liberty huh? I'm not so much of a shutter bug so I'm not into building or architecture photography...

Maybe we should go SFO... after all we have not been there... whatdayathink? ;P

Over worked!

Today I have 2 cupcakes orders to complete and that was a total of 3 dozens! I already started since yesterday afternoon by prebaked the first order. It was a good move as I know I won't have time to bake this morning as I need to deliver them later before I could start the second order.

The past weeks has been so hectic, since I am still coughing like nobody business and there are just so much work today... a lot of last minute cupcakes orders and I can feel so tired each night. I think I aged so much in these few weeks!

Can't wait for my next vacation so I could take a break and relax (though I know I won't get to relax when I'm on vacation!). For now, I still can afford not to go for Denver Plastic Surgery yet but I think if my lifestyle continue to be like that then I will have to fast forward my plan!

Business is improving

It has been almost 10 months I started my little cupcake e-shoppe. Business is brisk and I must say it is improving in a way. Though I don't get orders everyday, I am contented as I really lack the time to go into it full time. Therefore, till today I have yet to do much A and P for it. Guess I don't have the capacity to handle more orders.

Hubby has been asking me to get my business cards done but I am just too lazy and lack the motivation to do up one. Always procrastinate since my website is good enough to help spread the words. Probably when I have more time then I'll look into getting some business resumes done for future use.

At the mean time, I'll just stay with what I have now...

To Singapore again!!

The words is out... Yeap! We might be going down to Singapore again either in January or February next year. Hubby was telling me that we need to go there to do some official matters so we will be on our own. He was there earlier this week and he went to get some rates from some of the hotels around Bugis area.

He felt uneasy staying in either my uncle's or my friend's place so he decided to stay in the hotel. It will definitely eat into our cost but we have all the convenience of course.

I am extremely excited as I will get to whack all those food which I have missed in the last trip. I have better draw up a plan on where to eat so I won't miss out this time. I'm not going to think so much about weight lost now as I really miss all those yummy food! Worst come to worst, I'll just pop some diet pills after the trip!

Fosting frienship again

The past few days has been hectic but I am happy. Well, though I am still very sick and my cough is still not getting any better but I still happy because I found some really old friends and old classmates as well from one of the social networking site.

I could never imagine finding them after all these years... 18 years is a long time and I am glad that everyone is doing fine! I was quite surprise as some of my old classmates entered some of the professions that I could ever imagine they are in today!

One of them, whom I have lost touch for more than 20 years owns a few Pro-Shop and one even gone into designs! And what really surprised me was, she also became a Christian! How time change a person!!

There is another one who went for aesthetic training but I'm not sure where she did her course. It could be one of the popular beauty schools in tennessee since I was told she has migrated to the US some 10 years back.

Sick but still eat!!

My cough has been a really nagging one that after almost 3 weeks, I still don't see ant signs that it is healing. I know I have not been a good girl for not abstaining from food that I am not supposed to eat. In fact I went to have Kentucky Fried Chicken two days ago as I don't have time to cook since I have to deliver some cupcakes.

When we were in that area there was nothing to eat except Kentucky Fried Chicken and since hubby was extremely hungry so we just went ahead. I know by having this meal it will cause my cough to get worst but I really miss eating chicken!!!

Now, not only my cough will not go away, I think my weight will stay too!!! All because I just can't live without all those fried and spicy food! I think I better get a pedal exerciser soon or else I won't be able to fit into that gown I am going to wear for a wedding next month!

He said it!!!!!

Yesterday afternoon while chatting with hubby he told me he has some Kris Flyer points which will be expiring soon so we should go on a holiday before June next year!!!! I can't believe my ears when he told me he wanted to go to New York!!!! He said he has enough points to claim 2 tickets to New York! Woooohooo!

Then he told me if I wanted to go to Perth, he has enough points to claim 3 tickets... This is so darn tempting!!!! So how? Should I go to New York or Perth??? Spring in New York would be real fun and winter in Perth can also be very fun!!!

Okok... I know we are not moving to New York or Perth so I should not be getting too overly excited about it. I just need to calm down and think which location I should choose. This is definitely not as easy as choosing those movers New York since I can choose one! :P

I don't have green fingers!

During one of our trip back to KL, we went to visit hubby's uncle who staying in Sri Damansara. That time we were supposed to help my mom get a few plants from uncle's wife. One of it was the mulberry trees she planted which seemed to bear fruits all the time. Aunty gave my mom 2 pots of the mulberry and another pot of aloe vera.

I really like her aloe vera... super huge okay! She even made some dessert from them which tasted real good! She told us to use it for soup as well which is very good for health.

Though I did not take any of the plants home ( except those for my mom) but I took a few aloe vera leaf home. I tried making the dessert aunty taught me... *yum*!

Everyone is doing it

During the time when I was in the corporate world, I really cannot afford to take time off to attend courses full time even though I am in desperate needs to upgrade myself. I tried going for night classes but it really take a huge toll on my health as I have to sit in the class for minimum of 9 hours of classes each week. It is taxing... no doubt about it.

However, to give up my job to go full time means I have to take into consideration all the opportunity costs that involved. It was quite a difficult decision to make. There wasn't any win-win situation unless I make the sacrifices since those time we do not have the luxury of learning through online university. Therefore, at the end I have no choice but to give up my job and go enrolled in the university for full time course.

Now there are more people are holding on to their jobs and do their degree online so they don't have to give up their career to pursue another.

Fly to Singapore from almost everywhere?

But they don't have any flight out from Penang!

I was so happy when I received an email alert from AirAsia latest promotion to Singapore. The header that said 'Flying to Singapore from almost anywhere' was really eye catching since I am so dying to go Singapore again. Too bad they are flying from so many cities except from Penang! What a boo-hoo-hoo!

Just can't imagine why they never consider having flights out from Penang to Singapore???? It will be so good if they do as I know lots of us would love to fly to Singapore for some shopping since shopping in Penang sucks! :P

In KL and feasting non-stop!

We are barely here in KL for a week and we have been feasting since we came last Friday. Started with dinner on Friday with my parents at hubby's favorite BKT stall. It was a good meal as always.

Then the following day I joined some of my blogging buddies for Japanese buffet at Shogun in One Utama. This is the second time I had buffet in Shogun with the first at their branch in Sunway Pyramid. ... Though the branch in One Utama has more varieties but I found the food quality has someone dropped...

On the third day, went to Ikea for their famous Swedish meatballs. Found that the quality has somehow differed from my last meal in Ikea. Not sure why.... prices goes up but quality deteriorate so much! After that we went for dinner at my dad's friend's place who celebrating Deepavali. Food was good! :P

And yesterday my mom cooked... and you can guess that she cooked up a storm! Love the salted chicken you prepared... so yummy! Now, how to go on diet like???? Even with allie my journey will be a very tough one! :P

No more Zero fare!

Hahaha! Just as I posted about the confusion of those Zero fares offered by the many budget airlines here, Singapore decided to make a stand... No more Zero fares that are confusing to us, the fellow passengers! Yippeeee!

WHAT you see is what you pay. From Nov 1, advertisement tag-lines such as 'Fares from $0' or '15,000 seats going for only $0.01 one-way' here will be a thing of the past.

New rules set by the Advertising Standards Authority of Singapore (ASAS) will require travel agents and airlines to advertise full fares so travellers know right away how much their air ticket or holiday will cost, The Straits Times learnt.

Despite industry resistance and after over two years of discussions, ASAS - an advisory council to the Consumers Association of Singapore (Case), whose members include representatives from various bodies such as the Singapore Medical Association and Media Development Authority - issued a circular to all airlines and travel agencies earlier this week to inform them of the new rules.'

News link here.

At least now I don't have to crack my brain on how they calculate the fare. I hope our Malaysian budget airlines will be asked to do the same too...

Going to the US again???

Ok... we have been debating if we should go to the US again since hubby has accumulated lots of Kris Flyer points over the years. Our last trip 'overseas' was in 2006 so that means we have not gone any where far for 2 years now. He did asked me if I want to go LA again... well, I don't mind actually! :P

2 nights ago, we talk about it again and last night I bugged him again that we should go some where next year! I wanted to go to Perth to visit my aunt but hubby said he wants to go NYC so he can bring us to visit Niagara Falls! Well, I do want to go NYC but if that is the case we have to bring our car seat along!

The previous time when we were in LA, I have wanted to get one of those Britax car seats as their quality is much better as compared to the one we bought at the end. However, hubby thought that we might not be able to carry it back so we settled for a cheaper ones for just in case. Now I regretted for not getting a better one. :(

Get him a laptop!

I have anticipated that this will come sooner or later... that my boy will fight over the PC with me one day! And true enough he wants to punch on the keyboard every time he sees me typing or 'doing work' as describe by him. He will tell me he too wants to 'do work'!!! o_0

I can't bluff him away now since he is so much bigger and know how to bargain his way through. So, instead of sending him away, I let him have a few minutes on the PC when I am doing other stuff. However, when I want to get back to my work he will refused to go away! Headache!!!

A friend was suggesting that I get him a toy laptop so he will not disturb me anymore. Well, I did let him play with my old lappie but he don't like it! He prefers to bugs and fight with his mommy!

Zero fare and No fuel surcharge but still need to pay RM300???

This is quite a delayed post as I totally forgot about it sitting in my draft folder. Now that I remember, I want to rant about it!

OK, a few weeks back Air Asia sent me an email about their new promotion on Zero fare form KL to Singapore. Thinking I don't have to pay for the fare, the ticket will be cheap and I was dying to go Singapore again so thought I'll just try and check the total amount I need to pay.

And holy-molly! After keying all the details and selecting the RM0 for both ways, I still need to pay quite a lot! Here is the 'breakdown' of the charges for 2 tickets (I intend to bring my son along)...

Going Out Total 137.00 MYR
Going Out Total 137.00 MYR

They said 'No fuel surcharge' but the fuel surcharge was added into the calculation so quite confusing...

Bad face day

We ladies are extremely sensitive when it comes to beauty. We don't mind dishing out almost our entire saving to look good... most of the time. I've seen some of my friends signing up for some crazily priced facial treatments and etc... just so they will look good.

I for one, will not go to that extent but when I get a bad face day (those days when the outbreak can be so horrible) I will certainly invest in a good acne treatment. Not that my face worth a million dollar but looking good means feeling good and that is some kind of therapeutic feel.

Those vegetarian food is sinful!

I think this year 9 Emperor celebration here are making me feeling extremely guilty. I have been walloping more than my usual amount of vegetarian food in a year! I know this is very unhealthy but they tasted so good... well some of them!

The past few days I have been feeling bloated and I can see that my love handles has protruded more than in the past! Hubby has been complaining too that I've been eating more than my usual meals.

Well, I think I really have to serious up and really look at what I'm eating in order to make myself healthy again and of course bring my weight down too. Probably will go for some brisk walking again at the park this weekend. Might need to get myself a pulse oximeter to check my pulses too.

Penang will get Free Wifi soon

While we were driving back from lunch today, PiggyBeng told me that soon we will have free Wifi service in Penang. I am still not very sure if this free service is for everyone are restricted to just areas within the city.

To us, it will be good news as the current broadband service we are using is extremely slow sometimes and we still need a phone line for the connection. If we get the free wifi, we will be among the first to terminate our phone line since we don't use it as all of us have mobile phones. I think what we will need next time will be a mobile router instead.

Do I have to get another one?

When I was an art student some 20 years ago, I bought an airbrush set. It cost me... eerrrmmm... my dad actually... a whopping RM750 bucks! Yeah, it was an expensive investment at that time but I really need to own a set to do all my assignments so I don't have a choice.

Then later on, I actually gave it away to a business associate when I was working with him as he needs it more than me. And now, I kind of regretted my generosity... as I needed one for my work now.

Airbrush set is not any cheaper now and I don't think hubby will approve me getting another set. Maybe when I really-really need one later, I'll try scouting around for a second hand set.

Wanna change cellphone

My 'kiam-siap' (stingy) hubby is thinking of changing his cellphone after using that old junk for more than 4 years! I just cannot believe he can still use it even after the phone go on and off all the time and sometimes it even switched off by it self without any warning!

Then one fine day, his colleague showed him that one of the Sony Erricsson phone has one of the function he loves and since then he has been contemplating of getting a new phone... but he is not willing to fork out the money! Crazy right?

He still has not gotten any yet as he wants to check this and that. He even contemplating of getting a resale unit if he can find... probably one of those unlocked cell phones which can be cheaper...

Waiting for MIL's returns

I can't believe it that 3 months passes so fast! MIL will be home today from Germany after her yearly 3 months stay over at my SIL's place.

I've been cleaning some part of the house as a lot of our stuff are all over the place since she left and I have to make sure all those stuff are kept properly before she came home tonight. Last night a relative came by to help me clean my MIL's room and I managed to wash all her linens so I can put a new one for her later.

Then our relative told me our old vacuum is not functioning well but we don't have a choice since hubby is going away and I don't know if I should send it for repair or just get one of those new Miele vacuum cleaners which is on sale. Will wait for hubby's return later in the week before deciding....

To Reno someday

The only place we've been in the state of Nevada is Las Vegas two years ago. We would have love to to travel out a little more but due to the tight schedule, there was absolutely no way we can squeeze out time at all as we need to rush to Grand Canyon.

I've heard about Reno, which is also another nice place in Nevada but we are too unfamiliar with other places and the way to get there. However, that does not mean we will not in the future. I've heard some friends mentioned about nice places we can visit over at Reno and those reno hotels are just as nice as those in Las Vegas.

Well, I hope we could have another chance to visit Nevada again someday and pop by Reno for sure!

Waiting for a new government

With all the hypes from our 'circus' government lead by some clowns... I am... well, eagerly waiting to the forming of a new government by the oppositions...

I think all the Malaysians are sick and tired with bunch of clowns who made our country a laughing stock in the political spectrum. If we continue to let them treating the country like a circus ground, sooner or later we have to be one of the monkeys to be their follies... yikes!

Can't wait for most of our dreams to come true... down the BN up the PKR!

Sick till no appetite!

It has been more than a week since the cough virus attacked me and I am not anywhere better till to date. Phlegm still green and thick and my throat still feel just as dry as the past week. Only now that I can at least control not coughing it out like what I've been doing the past couples of days.

It is such a torturing feeling I tell you! I have been eating bland food of soup with rice and porridge for days! Though I have appetite before eating but the moment I see those same food again, it really turns me off! They works like those magical diet pill now!

I still have not weight myself... so don't know if i lose any weight but my little baby has definitely lose some as he look so skinny and frail now since he was down on Saturday! Even the hubby is losing his appetite with his fever coming and going for the past 3 days.

Shopping for shoes

I must admit I have not been seriously shopping for shoes ever since my wedding! Yeah, that was how long it has been since! I used to be a crazy shoes shopper during my working years and I have so many pairs of shoes that I lost count how many pairs I actually have in my shoe cabinet!

When I was in Europe, I thought I want to find a decent pair while I was shopping for a pair in Milan but due to our hectic schedule and of course the high exchange rate, I ended up with nothing except for a cheap walking shoes! It was the same when we were down in Paris, we don't have enough time to go for serious shopping.

Then when I was in LA, I was so tempted to check out the famous Manolo Blahnik brand which was one of the mentioned brand by the S*x and the City clan... Too bad no chance either as my boy just refused to let me shop in peace! We were already in Beverly Hill! arrgghhh!

If you are a DWI victim

In the last couples of years I have came across many news where by some poor souls were being hit by vehicles while they were walking are on the pedestrian walkway or just simply crossing the street at a traffic light junctions! Some were lucky to only suffer injuries but some are not and there are some who are victims of hit and run as there are no way to prosecute this irresponsible drivers who are normally under the influence of alcohol.

Even though the police managed to track down these reckless drivers, there always seems to be not enough evidence to proof. Therefore, many of the victims or victims' family are not compensated.

However, if you are residing in Nebraska, things might be different. For cases like these, you can always get help from the Omaha Personal Injury Lawyers and they might able to seek compensation for you or your family if anyone in your family were involved in such cases which are categorized as DWI victims.

Bad economy ahead...

The Olympic is coming to an end soon and there has been rumors saying that the economy will deteriorate pretty soon after that. In fact most of us has been feeling the slow down way before the Olympic and a lot more are having difficulties clearing their debts.

In fact some banks and financial institutions are already commissioning those debt collection agencies to help them to do the job as more and more people are not repaying their monthly installments.

I think the situation will look even more depressing in the coming weeks....

A Dying Culture?

Last weekend was the 15th day of the 7th month of the Lunar calendar without us realizing. Well, it is no big deal for us since we do not do any prayer as MIL is not around so we go about doing our normal chores just like any other weekends.

Then on our way back, we saw a Chinese Opera playing! It has been ages since I last seen one! hehehe... sound so suaku now! :P I still remember the days when I was still staying in a small town near Ipoh more than 30 years ago where I will follow either my great grandma or grandma to the temple to watch these operas which comes during the 7th month.

That night, both hubby and myself just wanted to show our little boy this dying culture which is getting rarer by the years. The one we saw that night was in Hokkien so I can't figure out what they were saying/singing but I'm sure the old folks does.

How time has changed... last time we need to purchase a ticket to watch and now it is free for all and I can hardly see a huge crowd! Only a few uncles and aunties were seated on some stools that scattered around the stage...

If you are looking for a good jogger

Now that our boy knows how to walk and run by himself, we hardly use the stroller. We will only use it when we know we will be walking for a long time as our little boy will get lazy after a few minutes walking on his own!

We wanted to start our 'healthy lifestyle' again by hitting the track one one of the park but our city stroller won't be able to take the stress. Now we are contemplating if we should get another stroller that can take rough terrain. Hubby is eying on a Bob stroller which look like a good jogger to invest in.

If you are looking for one, do hop by babyearth.com for a peep!

Finally - A silver for M'sia

After so many years... we can finally see the Olympic medal tally with Malaysia printed on it. Though it has appeared there during the last Olympic (introduction game) but this time, it is for real and as a Malaysian, I feel proud in a way.

The Malaysian Badminton team rocks! :P

I did not get to watch the match as I was busy tending to Darrius after we returned from the city... so I missed the match of the century. I was hoping our Lee Chong Wei will get the gold but he is not on home ground so it can be tough. Well, a silver is better than nothing! :)

Great job!

Home and lots to blog!

Just six days over the Causeway and I have tones of stuff to blog about! Besides our makan-makan adventures, I shopped a lot of Bento stuff as well as visiting a few places.

For more of our trip to Singapore, you are most welcome to hop over to my other blog for full details... :P

Fierce competition

Everywhere we go, we will see the group of people trying to get people to sign up for credit cards these days. Sometimes we don't only see one bank but a few banks having these 'road shows' where they will try to recruit new members or those who already had one from another bank they will even offer balance transfer credit card to make it more enticing... what a fierce competition!

Many a times I felt like signing up... pity those young chaps trying so hard to get customers. I heard that if we sign up, they will get some lucrative commission. Well, maybe when I think I really need another card then probably I will see what they have to offer...

Securing our house

Our house was broke in two years ago and since then hubby has been quite paranoid. Beside changing all the transparent roof he even set barb wires around the entire roof which surround the air well area.

He even went to the extend to install not one but 2 wind chimes so that if there is someone trying to pry open the roof, the chimes will make noise. Well, I don't really mind but sometimes when these chimes sounded in the middle of the night it can be quite scary/eerie especially when I am all alone.

So far there hasn't been any break in since the last one and we hope when we are away, no one tries their luck...

6 days in Lion City

Finally the day has arrived!

We will be leaving for the airport in less than 8 hours time to catch our flight to Lion City. It has been almost a year since we were down there and the thought of going there has always been exhilarating! Besides being a shopper paradise it is also a foodie paradise!

I can't wait to stuff myself silly with the yummy Katong Laksa, dried beef noodles, pepper crabs, Hokkien Mee and those succulent baby back ribs! *slurp~* I have 6 days to chomp all those yummies.

Tell me how to lose weight like that??? Well, I don't go to Singapore that often so what I'll do later is to go to the GP and ask him to introduce me one of those slimming pills from the many diet pill reviews he has. For now, I'll just enjoy the food guilt free! hehehehehee

Getting rid of your old cars

Have you ever thought of how to get rid of your really very old cars? I know not many people are driving those old junk these days but you'll be surprise we have one here! Yeah, my hubby felt that an old junk is better to be used for work since it will be parked under the hot sun the entire day.

I don't know how long can this old junk works but from our estimation, it is still able to 'live' for another 5 years or more! I know... it is still a long way before we can get rid of it. However, we have not thought about it if we really needed to get it dump one day.

Hubby has installed some new parts so in actual fact, the car is still 'new' in a way since it has all the new parts running. Should it really R.I.P. one day, probably we will send it to something similar to midwest auto recycling facilities and see if they can find any uses from those newer parts.

Getting vain again

Today, after many-many years, I finally bought another cake of face powder. I think I have stopped buying face or compact powder for more than 5 years or more. There were only a few occasions I had them (not mine) during my own wedding and my brother wedding where the beautician brushed it on for me.

Well, I was having some outbreaks lately and thought that these powders can help me hide some of my acne. I hate it when I have all those ugly bumps on my face!

Countdown to fitness

I've decided... I need to trim down a little so I can eat till my heart content when we are in Singapore in less than 2 weeks. There are just too much temptation there... my favorite Katong Laksa, the yummy and cheap baby back ribs, pepper crabs, sliced fish noodles and of course, the Singapore style Hokkien Mee!

Since I don't have any gym membership, I can't run on the treadmills. Guess I have to watch my diet instead and cut down as much as I can... after all, I'm starting to get bored with the food here. Will keep my tummy for those yummy food in Singapore!

Don Obori celebration in Penang

Last Saturday we were tired and did not go anywhere during the day so our little boy was feeling restless staying home. Then hubby decided to take him to the Esplanade to fly kite.

Initially we thought of going for coconut juice drink at Abu Siti Lane but the store was closed. So we went to New World to get some dinner since both my boy and myself has not taken our dinner. I bought a packet of CKT and 2 packets of CCF for my boys.

We then drove in through Farquhar Street and was greeted by a massive traffic jam! We moved slowly and when we reach Convent Light Street, we sort of guessed it must have been some event going on at the Esplanade. Then when we moved forward, we saw quite a lot of Japanese walking toward the field and it trigged me that it must have been the Don Obori celebration! We were stuck at the same place last year! What a coincidence.

Silly me thought that there will be a firework display so I brain washed hubby to drop by since we are already there. We droved to some lanes near to Beach Road and quickly gobbled down our dinner before we park behind CIMB bank and walked to the Esplanade.

By then it was around 7.30pm and the entire place was filled with people. We walked around for a while and waited for some performances but there were just too many people so we can't even get close to the stage.

After roaming for about 30 mins, there was still no signs of firework display so hubby said better go as we do not want to get trapped when the event ends. We were lucky that we left earlier if not we won't be able to get home till 11pm!

Jusco @ Bukit Tinggi, Klang

We did not go to Klang for a long time so we decided to head there for our BKT fix when hubby came to fetch us back to Penang. After that we went over to Jusco Bukit Tinggi which is said to be one of the biggest outlet currently. We've been to the Jusco in Bukit Raja some time back and that outlet was so-so only when compared to the new one.

I like the Bukit Tinggi Jusco simply because it has one of the highest ceiling for a shopping mall! It seems that this mall is sooooooo spacious as compared to all the malls I've been. The entire place is bright and cheery with most of the shop space taken up. Even the mix of tenant is considerably good.

As it was a Sunday, the whole place is extremely crowded especially on the ground floor. Coincidentally, there was some events going on the inside as well as outside the mall hence the huge crowd.

Thinking of advancing your knowledge?

Are you thinking of advancing your knowledge but lack the time and money? With the wild rat race in the work force now, more and more people are considering of upgrading themselves so they are able to survive in this mad corporate world race.

I was one of them last time when I was still in the work force. In those days, we don't have any of those online college courses so we have to slog in night classes after work. I have to attend a three hours class, 3 times a week which can be quite taxing. Sometimes when I have an event coming, my mind will be so blank when the lecturer is talking in the class and I doubt anything goes into my brain.

These days, people are luckier to have those online courses that they could sign up with and do on their own pace without the stress of attending classes after work.

Time to check the pools @ Singapore Swissotel

In less than 2 weeks we will be in Lion City! Looks like I am more excited about the trip than my little boy! It has almost been a year since we last step foot in Singapore and I am really looking forward to it.

This time we get to stay at Swissotel (the old Westin) as we are tagging along hubby's business trip. My boy is excited as he knew he can go swimming in the pool and the bath tub! In fact we have been checking out some new swimsuits for him as his old one is kind of tight. The boy has certainly grew a lot during the past one year!

While the hubby and the boy go swimming, mommy can go check out the nearby malls! :P

KLIA was placed world's fourth best in 2008

Ok, this might be an old news by now but I am sure not many of you catch it when it was announced. In a recent survey on the best airports around the world, I was totally caught off guard that our dear KLIA was voted among the Top 5 in the world! Jaw dropped? Mine was! hahahaha!

Here is the clipping from AsiaOne:

KLIA has been voted as the fourth best airport in the world by British-based air travel research company, Skytrax, Sin Chew Daily reported.

KLIA which was placed fifth last year, is among the four airports in Asia that made it to the top five list this time around.

Hong Kong International Airport was voted the best, followed by Singapore's Changi Airport and Seoul's Incheon International.

Munich Airport in Germany was fifth, followed by Kansai International Airport in Japan, Copenhagen Airport in Denmark, Zurich Airport in Switzerland, Helsinki Airport in Finland and Cape Town International Airport in South Africa.

This is the seventh time the Hong Kong International Airport has won the Airport of the Year title since the award was launched in 2001.

The research was conducted on more than 190 airports worldwide between August 2007 and May this year. A total of 8.2 million tourists from over 97 countries were interviewed.

Replacing your old sink?

Looking for a new sinks to replace your old ones?

Though we seldom need to replace something like sink that often but sometimes having a lousy brand can cause it to crack just after a few years. In fact my mom has cracked 2 in her life... so it is not unusual. The thing with our sinks here are, they are made to attach to the wall and nothing actually hold them.

Unlike those vessel sinks, where they 'sit' on a table top so they are in a way being hold are more sturdy as compared to our conventional sinks. If you are installing sinks in your homes, make sure you get these type of sinks.

I'm not a gadget person

Ever since I left the corporate world, I have practically lost touch with all those electronic gadgets. Before, I used to own quite a few pieces of these 'must-have' gadgets to be 'in the crowd'.

Last month while cleaning one of my drawers at my parents' place, I found my old Palm charger and some old mobile phones. Strangely, I can't find where is my Palm Pilot!

Well, since my hubby is not a gadget person too (though he's in the electronic field), we don't find any reasons to get into the hype of owning all these stuff. But, hubby was lucky as he got a few free ipods from his suppliers/distributors! Too bad, Miss Not Gadget me don't find it useful at the moment!

Hong Kong or Down Under?

We did not have any family vacation last year and even this year there isn't any firm plans. Hubby wanted to save up the money for our current project so he was telling us there might be no overseas vacation for this year too. Initially I was tempted to go to Hong Kong with my parents but the plan has to be shelved as my dad got to work on that weekend we intended to go. He's not keen to take a day leave since he's only working half day that Saturday.

However, if our project is successful, we might be heading to Down under for a short trip. Have not decided to where yet. Most likely will be Perth since my aunt is there so accommodation will not be a problem. Also, it will be a good time for me to bring back some of the books which I left at her place after my graduation.

More junks to bring home

When I was back at my parents place last month, I managed to clean one of my old wardrobe and some of the stuff in the store room. Found a lot of stuff there... all the old things I brought back from Singapore. Some are used, some are still new in the original packaging and some already got moldy...

Among them I found some old presents given to me by my friends and old colleagues. It was rather nostalgic and I asked myself should I throw them away since some looked really 'aged'. Then I saw some of my old kitchen utensils. Some still look new especially the pella pan that one of my ex-housemate gave to me when she moved to Hong Kong.

At least now I have another pan to use...

The King of Fruit is back

The durian season is back since a month ago on this island. However, due to the change of weather, there are more rain than before and thus affected the harvest of these 'King of Fruits'.

We went up in late May and we hardly see any ones being sold. Even if they have, they are more pricey than before. Now they are selling by the weight as compared to last time when we can negotiate the price.

I am waiting for the 'Ang-Hare' of Red Prawn which is considered the best breed thus far. My hubby is happy with 'Hor-Lor' though he don't mind having the rest.

So far we have tried Amy Yip which has huge flesh, just like the real person who is extremely voluptuous. :P

Can you see those little brittle fruits hanging on the branches?

Have you collected your RM625?

This afternoon I dropped hubby at the Penang's main branch Post Malaysia at Beach Road. He was there to collect his 'rebate' for the fuel increase.

We have 2 cars and we are lucky their road tax were due just before they announce the rebate for all car owners regardless of their size/model. So, we get a total of RM625x2=RM1250. Not bad huh? :)

So, if you have a car and just renewed your road tax these few months... hurry and go get your 'rebate'!!!

Happy Feet @ New World Park

It is our usual Friday dinner with my FIL. Normally we will go to his regular coffee shop for dinner where we have some fried noodles and dim sum. As we have been there almost every weekend, we thought we go to a new place instead.

We have been to New World Park a few times but not my FIL. This is his first time there after all the make over. Today's weather is quite ok and the place was not crowded so we get good seats and our food arrived quite fast.

After dinner, we decided to walk about the whole place. Then I saw the fish spa Happy Feet located just opposite Manhattan Fish Market. This is the first such spa open here in Penang. In fact I remember a fellow blogger visited it last month.

They are having July special now. It is FREE for those who celebrate their birthday in July (free on the actual day only)!!! And you can bring your child below 12 in for FREE too!

Let them take candid shots of your wedding!

During the time when I got married, we were unsure what to give to our guests. After all, it was not a trend yet until the last 2 years where more people are giving wedding favors on their wedding day.

If we have known about those wedding cameras then, we would have gotten them for our guests so they can help us take some really natural candid shots which will be very memorable. Too bad, we did not have such idea that time.

So, if you want to be captured in real candid, why don't you get your guests one of this cutie? Just place one of these disposable flash cameras on each table and watch your guests take wonderful candid photos. These cuties are preloaded with quality 400 speed film with either 15 or 27 exposures. A table card is included which give instructions on how to use.

How I wish I could turn back the clock and have my wedding day once again!

Boston Movers

If you are moving or being relocated, you need to find a really good mover to save you from headache. Never go for those who do shoddy work which will result dismay more than satisfaction. I am talking from experience.

I used to live like a nomad, moving from one place to another within a short time and each time when I moved, some of my things will either go missing or destroyed. And since I engaged small moving firms, they don't usually provide any insurance for my stuff. So, count myself unlucky.

A friend of mine who has just migrated to another city had a very bad experience with her mover. Her LCD TV and her entire box filled with her old photographs were destroyed by flood (apparently the warehouse where the mover stored her stuff was flooded)! There is no way one can compensate for the destroyed photographs!

Another business associate of mine got her stuffed stolen during the storage time and they still can't find who did it. Though they willing to compensate my friend, there is no way one can return the sentimental value of the stuff that were stolen.

So, if you are moving or being relocated, do make sure you get the right mover to do the job. If you are moving to Boston, check out Boston Movers.

She wants to own a salon

A cousin of my cousin is an aspiring hairdresser even before she leave high school. So, right after she completed her high school she went about looking for salon jobs so she can be trained as an apprentice where free training is provided and she get paid as well.

In the initial days, all of us has to be her guinea pigs so she can have practices from hair cuts to hair perms and coloring. The best part was, we get to do all those for free! I took the chance and let her perm my hair of course! :P

A few other cousins and relatives went for regular haircuts too since they are free of charge. And the last I heard was, she has finally completed her training and is looking to open a salon herself.

Malaysian Taxis = One of the WORST in the world

Well... That is not a piece of fresh news so it ain't a surprise at all.

We all know the fact but nobody seems to do much about it. And it is a laugh in the butts when our dear government want to make this country a very touristy place. How can we when we have such a bad front liners???

To be very honest, even myself I dare not hail any taxis alone... afraid that I could be the next rape victim to join the statistics.

Many years ago, my friend and I boarded a taxi at a hotel after our lunch date only to be asked to get off midway as the driver demanded that we pay more from the earlier negotiated price! This such a shame! He agreed to the earlier price and when we are half way he changed his mind and wanted to squeeze more more two defenseless ladies!

We were very unhappy and demanded that he stopped the taxi! At the end we boarded another which sent us home safely. I really swore off Malaysian taxis that time!

Comfort for your furry friend

Are you a cat lover? I have a few friends who are and they really spoil their little friends. These soft felines are treated just like family and they are given the best of everything.

Besides spoiling them with good meals everyday, they even have their very own cat tree to rest on. I have never seen one until now. Previously another friend gave her little 'Sylvester' a sand box and it was so cute as I've never seen anything like that before... very country bumpkin indeed! LOL

Sometimes I do thought about getting a kitty myself so I can spoil it rotten with all the nice stuff. It can be tempting when I found out that MyCatsHeaven.com is able to ship worldwide!

He's into notes and coins

The other day I was chatting with a blogging friend and we talked about buying stuff from ebay. She was telling me she hardly get any chance to sit in front of the PC as her hubby has a craze recently... bidding for rare notes and coins!

I was pretty surprised as she and her hubby are pretty young and normally not many youngsters have such a hobby. She was telling me, she could have married an Ah Pek (old man in Hokkien)!

Well, on hind side she said this new hobby is not that bad after all since such collection usually has a good return of sort. She said her hubby want to bid for all the good stuff so he can be a notes or coin dealer some day when his collection increased.

Experiencing romantic country living

I have always love the country side... for its tranquility and the fresh air which we don't get a lot in the bustling cities that we living in. One of my dream is to settle down in a country home and I am hoping that dream will come soon.

Before my dream to settle down in one. We love France and we were there for our honeymoon so I hope my hubby could bring me to experience the countryside on Western Loire holidays. As we were not too familiar with the offering during our previous visit, we missed out on staying in any of the country homes. If we get the chance to go again, we will definitely check ourselves to the French chateaux in Loire Atlantique. I heard they offer one of the most romantic country living experience.

From Loire Atlantique, we could venture over to Maine-et Loire for another escape. There are
luxury chateaux in Maine-et Loire where we can experience farmhouse or cottage way of living. This is something that I've been dreaming of going since we have missed out the opportunity the previous time.

This time I will remind my hubby to check this holiday rental site for the deal...

The New 7th Storey Hotel has to go!

I used to live in Singapore and that means I don't stay in many of the hotels. So, there are only a handful which I have some of my memories. The last hotel stay I have is at the New 7th Storey Hotel which is just a stone throw away from Bugis Junction.

It is an old style hotel which was built in the early sixties. It has nothing special except it was one of the cheapest hotel available in the Golden Triangle... near to all the shopping and pubbing between Bugis and City Hall. Therefore, a lot of budget travelers will book into this hotel which stand alone near a big field.

My stay was in the end of 2001... My friend came to visit me and since I was staying with my uncle that time, it won't be nice to ask her to bunk in with me so we decided to share a hotel room instead. We checked in on Christmas Eve and left on Boxing Day.

The deepest impression I have about this place is the old lift that they have. There is an old man operating it since it is not automated. Yeah, it still has those old swing door and it is double layer.

The room we stayed on the 3rd floor was quite spacious and it is overlooking Bugis Junction. We have to share a Queen size bed as those with twin beds are all taken. It has a small TV and that was about it. Nothing fancy. Outside, we noticed some rooms with bunk beds as well as a shared toilets and bathrooms which are popular among the backpackers.

It was such a sad thing to see it go... Well, when Singapore needs to develop the place... there's nothing much anyone can do... May the people with memories with this hotel lives on...

Elegant lighthing for our home

Since we don't own a luxury house or as a matter of fact a bungalow, there is not much of a need to install any nice indoor lighting such as chandeliers. Guess it won't be fitting to have such luxurious looking decorative in a small house.

However, if we have the chance to own a piece of those grand bungalow one day, I will not hesitate to get our place a few nice pieces of lighting like some of those I've visited before. They sure to make the house elegant.

Stocking up on toiletries products

My son's toiletries are about to finish so I was thinking of stocking up another batch for him. Previously I got him some really expensive brand as he was having some mild eczema. Now that his skin problems has recovered I was thinking of getting a more affordable brand to replace.

I have been using some body shampoo as well as hair shampoo manufactured by one of the popular pharmaceutical companies in the world and was thinking of getting the baby version for my boy since this brand I have been using is quite mild and popular among the people here.

Guess I need some time to slowly check out the available items from this brand when I have the luxury to go on a shopping trip this weekend.

Giving the sofa a country look

I'm a little bored with the colors of our current sofa set. We have been using this set for more than 4 years now and I was thinking of giving it a new look just to brighten up our living room a little. Our current set is in brown so it is kinda dark on our green tiles floor.

I've seen some people covering their sofa sets with slipcovers and thought I could give our sofa a new look by wrapping it with one too. Saw this really sweet and nice with country feeling slip which will be a perfect fit for our old sofa.

Made of 100% cotton, these slipcovers are not only elegant but also pet-friendly. The tailored wrap provides a clean, sleek, “tailored” look in the front with its wrap-around skirt and tailored arms. If you want to redress your sofa, do pop by EverySlipCovers.com for a tour.

Luggage for him again?

In less than a month time it will be my hubby's birthday. Last year I bought him a very nice hand luggage from a local shop here and he loved that luggage very much. And I was wondering what to get him again this year.

He told me his another piece of luggage has torn and wanted to get a new one to replace. As he was pretty busy, he don't have much time to shop for one and I thought might as well i get him a second piece. Saw this cool and sexy Zero Halliburton polycarbonate case and thought it looks good and perfect for hubby.

Also, the site that is selling this will be giving away a Bluetooth piece if buyers purchased any of the business case that valued above $195. Ah! Temptation again!

Is Phentermine my answer to a svelte body?

In this age and time, many people are battling the weight issue to get a slimmer and svelte figure as the food we consumed everyday is laden with carbohydrate and fat. I must admit I am a victim too all because of my gluttony nature.

The thought of controlling my diet always puts me off and at the end of the day I eat even more! I know I must do something but is there any solutions that do not have any side effects? I've heard of Phentermine of late and wonder if they are effective as well as do not have any adversed side effects?

Well, probably I need to read up more before getting any to try. I'm dying to have a svelte body but will it cost me more than I'll bargain for?

It is the time again

Times flies and soon we will have to renew our car's auto insurance again. I can't believe it that my car has been with us for almost a year now! And it is weird that I still dare not drive to many places yet as my phobia with driving in this country has never ceased.

Anyway, I have made quite huge improvement as I can now drive to deliver my cupcakes! This has never crossed me at all in the past! Ain't I'm glad I got my driving license now. At least we don't have to depend on hubby to ferry us around.

We are in KL again!

We are in KL again after back in Penang for 2 months. Looks like we are in KL every two months! Not bad... at least we have 'mini' vacation every 2 months!

Well, this time we won't be able to go to too many places as my dad was commissioned to be back at work again after a half year break. So, this round more or less we will stay at home and I have a few cupcakes orders to fulfill as well.

And it is a good time we are here as one of my blogging friends is back from LA! There's a lot of catching up to do!

Insurance

I'm glad I bought insurance policies as one of it helped me pay for my medical bills when I discovered I have a lump near my 'ahem' area last month. Hubby was complaining a while back that I have too many policies but I defended that they are useful.

Besides a life insurance policy I bought a term insurance policy too as a way of saving. It is for a period of 25 years and after which I can have a sum of money where I can withdraw when it matures. I have paid for a bout 15 years now so I'm left with another 10 years to go!

It will be good as I can use it for my boy's school/uni fees when the mature date comes...

Pearls for Mother's Day

Every year without fail I will try to get my mom a little gift for Mother's day. My mom has always like jewelries but with me not working full time now, I can't really buy expensive gifts. I used to get her jewelry items like diamonds and jade as these are some of her favorite.

Therefore, this year I decided to get her a pair of freshwater pearls earrings. I saw a pair which was really nice and will fit my mom perfectly so I went for it. It was not too costly as other precious stones or gems. Being a fan of pearls, I think I got my mom a really nice gift!

Should I get one too?

I've just started my little home business selling cupcakes and was wondering if I should get myself a checking account for the whole purpose. By having one, it will enables me to pay my suppliers using checking facilities and i do not have to pay with hard cash.

In fact I already have a registered company legally so it will not be a problem for me to get a checking account from banks around here. Since a few of my relatives are in the banking industry, I don't have to worry much if the banks required an introducer to open an account.

Will see how things goes... when my business grows, I guess I just have to have one!

Going to New York CitY

I was supposed to follow my mother in law to New York last year but after considering having a toddler tagging along I decided to abandon the idea. It's not easy since hubby will not be following.

My mother in law has been there a few times and since some of her siblings are living there she just go and visit them as well as going to some nearby attractions for a short vacations. If I'm not mistaken she joined a New York City travel agent and went on trips to Chicago and some parts of Canada.

How I wish I can have that opportunity someday.... I would love to see Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and visit Wall Street as well as Ground Zero!

A relaxing evening

This evening we paid the beach a visit since we have not been going there for a long time. The weather was pretty good... cloudy for most part of the afternoon. However, when we arrived at the beach, the clouds were all gone! So, it was rather hot! Luckily we managed to find a good shaded area and spent an hour there.

Then we went to a relative's house for dinner. They are staying in an apartment so there isn't any chance to enjoy the evening breeze. How nice if they are staying on a landed property so that we can relax on the patio furniture while chatting and sipping fruit juices.

How to be clean?

With prices of most staple goods continue to rise like nobody business, more and more of the lower income group will suffer. In fact in the past weeks I have started to read about more snatch thieves cases which has simmer down a year ago. But I guess the bad economy are forcing many people out of their wits.

Many of these cases involved drug addicts. The can find enough money to sustain their addiction and at the end they have to rob people in order to get money. Though many are caught ans was sent for drug rehab but many do go back after a while as when they go and mix with their old bad company, they will be involve with drugs again. So, how can they be clean again if this continue?

The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch

Have you heard about the amazing university professor from Carnegie Melon University, Randy Pausch? Pausch is a Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, and Design at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania who is diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer.

In the infamous "Last Lecture," titled "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," which was modeled after an ongoing series of lectures where Pausch asked his audiences to think deeply about what matters to them, and then give a hypothetical "final talk," like question on "what wisdom would you try to impart to the world if you knew it was your last chance?"

Flowers for all occasions

Let them battle it out

Sometimes competition is a good thing.... at least from the customers point of views. At least with competition we get better stuff at a cheaper price.

I'm sure most Malaysians are aware that both MAS and AirAsia is counter striking each other with low fares. I got email alerts every other day from AirAsia giving out the bestest deals. Well, will we fret? This is good in fact as we can travel at an even cheaper rate. Don't you think so?

With almost everything going up... I'm glad there is still something that is coming down. :P

File them up

Our digital camera has been with us for almost 4 years and we are glad it still works fine. I must admit that with it we managed to capture most of the beautiful memories we have had in the past 4 years.

Hubby has been very diligent in filing them up in our PC and categorized them too which make viewing them a pleasure. My little boy will always ask for his own photo and video slides to be played. For that hubby has been getting more hard disk with higher memory so we could store more of the photos and videos we took.

The hunt is on again

We have not been hunting for houses for a long time as we either do not have the time or most of the places we viewed are out of our budget. Therefore, we have some sort shelved the idea for the time being.

A couple of weeks ago, while we were having dinner with my father in law, he mentioned to us that he was looking for a place or more precise, a property to invest. He told us that he has been looking around for some private real estate as well as commercial real estate but so far he has not found any that met his budget cum interest.

He told us that he will continue to find one that is suitable to do some small business as he will be retiring soon from his current job. He don't like the idea of idling at home so he hopes to get a good place where he an start a small business.

What a joke

I was chatting with my hubby a few weeks back about buying a MPV (multi purpose vehicle) if we have another kid. And if we do have more kids then we will have to get a van instead or else it won't have any space for grandma and grandpa when they come for a visit. I was laughing so hard my tummy ache.

Hubby joked that having a van will not be enough since we need space to put our luggage when we are traveling. Probably we need to buy a bus if we have a huge family! He said with a bus we can go to many places with everyone in the family! *bang head*

Time for some putting

Since I am on this health track, might as well I take up a new sport so it can help me with my slimming program. Though I am not very keen but I guess I don't have much choice given that I can't do extreme sport like before.

After a dear blogger friend commented on my previous post about losing weight healthily, I should really sit down and think what is best. After all, I am not in the pink of health lately with too much late nights and sinful snacking in between meals. Ever since I came back to Malaysia, the time I spent walking has shorten as I have a set of wheels just right outside my house ferrying me to wherever I want to go.

Probably the best way to start a healthy life style is to walk more and playing golf is one of the alternative I can look for. Probably I got check out some of the golf courses around this island if they have any beginner course. Then I might get some gears such as those from Cobra golf to start off. Good idea?

Or maybe I should consider these...

Weight problems is a never ending misery. To put on is so easy but to get rid of them takes all our mights but yet we don't see much changes. I know I'm not the type who can do lots of strenuous exercise to overcome those bulges. I simply don't have the 'time' luxury with a demanding toddler around.

So I am contemplating getting some prescription weight loss pills for alternative. After all, there are some really effectives weight loss pills in the market and if I get these prescription through my GP, then I should be safe.

I can use them wor

I think my mother in law is trying to hint to me that I've put on a lot of weight. Last week before she left for Japan she told me to bring out the exercise equipment which belong to my sister in law to use them. Initially I did not get her message but after a brief moment I finally understood what she was trying to say.

*sigh*

Even my hubby has been complaining that my love belts are getting bulkier than before and asked me to watch what I am eating. The problem is, I tend to snack a lot when I'm watching TV especially when I'm alone... I can't munch in front of my boy or else he will demand he wants them too.

Finding all the best deals

I used to be a shopping addict during my working years and retail therapy is one of the best to get myself de-stress as well. That means, I spent most of my salary on these therapies. I don't mind a depleting bank account but I can see all the best bargains sitting in my wardrobe!

Most of the time I will go for all the best buy but occasionally I will indulge in some really non best buy or really expensive stuff to satisfy my crave of owning something from a particular brand. Yeah, I am that crazy before!

Though I can't indulge in these 'therapies' so often now, I still will scout around for stuff that at best buy price! There is always rooms to keep my new 'investment'. :P

Getting our new LCD TV

After weeks of procrastination, we finally went to search for an affordable LCD TV last evening. We went out around 7pm to a nearby neighborhood and check out all the electronics shops to find one set that meets our budget.

After going back and forth between two of the shops checking on two brands, SHARP and LG, we finally settled for the LG. Though the price for the unit in the store we committed our purchase is not cheaper as compared to another store but we managed to get a 2 years warranty instead of just one year offered by the other store.

Initially hubby was having doubts with LG since it was not in our list. All this while we had only considered either a SHARP or SONY. Then after listening to the salesman and finding out all the specs, hubby decided on the LG unit simply because it has better features and of course the extended warranty.

The shop will be delivering our new TV later this afternoon.... we are really excited!

Second honeymoon?

We went to Italy for our honeymoon but we only managed to visit Milan and Rome only as we have a very packed itinerary. If I have the choice I would have added Venice, Florence and the romantic Tuscany too but due to insufficient time, we have to skip these few cities.

Hubby did said that we could go back someday... maybe for our second honeymoon so we could visit those places which we have left out. If ever we should be back in Italy, we will definitely go for Tuscany villa rentals as it promises a whole lot of romantic features. And Italy being one of the world most romantic places on earth... we can't miss it for the second time!

Control my appetite

I am a person who love food and there is no secret that I love to snack on junk food. I know it is a bad habit but I just love to munch whenever I have nothing particular to do. So my mind will automatically wonders off and think of food.

Ever since I stopped breastfeeding m son, I have been gaining weight and due to the fact that I hardly do strenuous exercise, there is no way I could maintain a slender body. How I wish I could have another baby now so I can breastfeed him. Breastfeeding is the best natural weight losing remedy.

Well, since there is no baby to breastfeed, then I should just get hoodia. Hoodia Gordonii is a type of plant that contain a natural botanical ability to suppress a person's appetite and promote weight loss. Controlling my appetite is something what I really need now.

Are you a coins collector?

I used to be an avid stamps and coins collectors during my school going days. I find collecting stamps and coins are more enriching as compared to collecting other stuff such as game cards and etc... For a few years, my dad brought back quite a huge collection of stamps for me and that actually spurred my interest.

Then my granduncle who is also an avid stamps collector further encourage me to take up this hobby. He is also a coin collectors and he has in his collections all kinds of coins. Besides gold coins, he also has silver coins and some bronze coins which dated more than a few hundred years back.

I find it as a good way to learn about the different countries from these stamps and coins. At least I got to know the various countries which I have never heard of then...

They are changing for check-in bagage

A couple of days ago I read from the news that AirAsia will be charging passengers their check-in baggage. I think this is one of the saddest news to all AirAsia's customers. All this while most of us who used their services or any other budget airlines enjoyed at least one free check-in baggage.

If I'm a daily domestic business air traveler then the news won't really hurt me. However if I'm a holiday maker and going to those destinations where shopping is unavoidable then I have to make sure I have extra $$ to pay for my baggage when I return. Even if my ticket cost just a dollar but my baggage's weight will kill me.... *sigh*

Neglect

I know I should not have but the circumstances forced me to... thus I have to neglect this blog of mine. There are just so much to do and so little time and not only this blog is suffering, even my recipes blog is experiencing the same fate.

What I hate is, I have somehow turned this blog like a advertising blog rather than a travel blog. And to all those kind people who has linked me but I did not reciprocate after I changed my template, I am truly sorry. I will try to link you guys up again when I have the time.

Currently I have a terrible two to deal with and that takes up most of my time. I just can't wait to have more ME time soon!

City of Lights

I think not many places are as vibrant as Las Vegas. I considered this as the city of lights as there were so many lights every night! I really like that lively environment and our trip to this dessert was so much fun and exciting.

And we just love all those Las Vegas Hotels along the strip. One of my favorite is the Bellagio where the famous musical fountain is. This fountain will have performances every 30 minutes starting from 3pm everyday. Then there is the Excalibur and Treasure Island.

My little boy was having so much fun checking out all these hotels as each and everyone has their very own attractions. Though he was not able to run about but he enjoyed looking at all the beautiful designs inside and outside these hotels.

My cupcakes e-shoppe

I think I've not announce about my new site to my dear readers here...

If any of you who are staying in Penang, then this might be a piece of good news. I've started my very own cupcakes e-shoppe so I can take your orders for that special cupcakes you would want to give to your loved ones...

Just hop over to I Love Cupcakes and check out my creations!

My ZEN bathrooms

I have always wanted my future home to have nice and simple designs. If I can have my way, I want every thing to be ZEN looking or something like the traditional Japanese design. I find the colors and the way the designs give a very calm and soothing feelings.

Many of the bathroom designs here are pretty standard but we can always redesign them and add in all the bathroom vanities to our taste. I've always like ceramic sinks as they are always so nice looking and lasting.

The only thing is, when will I get that chance to have all those? I hope it will be very soon....

Disney World Tickets

During our previous trip to Disneyland in Los Angeles, we did not have time to scout for discounted tickets though hubby did tried but can't find any that suit our needs. We ended up buying the tickets from the counter without any discounts.

So, if we were to go to Disney World in Florida next time, we will make sure we get those Discount Walt Disney World Tickets since there are more parks in Orlando as compared to Anaheim. It won't be so soon since my boy is afraid of moving rides now but it is never too soon to plan.

In fact we did planned to visit Florida within these two years so finding all the necessary discounts or concessions will be good when the time comes. At least we won't have to rush when looking for such stuff.

Getting rid of those foul smelling smoke

Currently we are at my parents' place and recently there has been this really foul smelling smoke that kept invading the house. We can't figure out where it came from exactly and it only comes in the evening. Sometimes it gets so thick that it made us having difficulty breathing.

I was suggesting to my mom that she should get one of those air purifiers to help clean the air in the house since my little nephew is living with them during the week. Inhaling those smoke will be bad for the baby... he might gets asthma even.

It's 3 bucks now!

A month ago when we were in KL, we went to The Curve and the parking was still RM2 which they have just increased not too long ago from the previous RM1. Today, we have to pay RM3 instead!

I can't understand why they make the increment so soon... They should have let it be at RM2 for a period of time before increasing... *sigh*

Now, the only place that worth going if you wanna shop is still 1Utama.... their parking is RM1 for the first 6 hours which is VERY reasonable.

Moving?

I know very well when it comes to moving, it can be a long and tedious process. In my life I've moved so many times till I was so sick of moving as I have to leave so many things behind since I know I can't bring them all with me. And most of the time I don't contract a movers to do the job for me since I don't have that many things but if I were to move again then I'll have to get one as I have a family now.

It is always wise to get a good professional mover to do the job. Though they may cost a little more but you can rest assured that your stuff will arrive safe and sound to your new location. I have a friend who recently relocated to Melbourne and her stuff was soaking wet when they were sent to her! All her stuff are permanently destroyed! She was devastated as most of her photo albums were gone. The mover she used stored her stuff in a flooded warehouse before they transport them to the new location!

So, if you are moving, make sure you get reputable movers such as the New York Moving Company to do the job so you can be sure your belongings arrived safe and dry to your new home!

This is so kewl!

I had a friend who's eldest son is a spastic patient and he can't walk at all on his own. As he is getting older and bigger, his carers are having increased difficulties to move him around the house. And even simple thing like taking a bath can be such a chore to them.

Thankfully, they have a very kind relative and a rich one too and he presented a walk in tubs to the family. My friend and her family was so touched and thankful for that gift. Now they can move their son effortlessly around the bath tub.

I think this one of the coolest thing that happens to my friend and her family!

Evaluation is important for improvement

It is the time of the year again where my hubby's firm will be doing the annual employee performance evaluations. After the completion of the evaluation, they will roughly know if they will be given an increment or even a promotion. Hubby was pretty lucky as every year he has got very attractive increments. In fact there was one year where he was among the few who got the highest increment package in the entire plant.

In my previous company we also do this exercise annually as this actually helped us to do our jobs better. At least we know what we have done correctly and done wrongly and getting feedbacks from different people within our department. We are able to make improvement upon the completion of such exercise.

I almost gone for direct selling

As I was rummaging through my stuff at my parents' house, I saw some of my old files which were stuffed between some books. When I took them out and flip through only to realize they were those folders I bought for being a part of a direct selling company.

Most of my folders are on products for colon cleanse as those were one of the best selling products of that direct selling company. Sadly I did not manage to sell any as I was called up for work in another company which has nothing to do with any health products.

Be insured on the road

As my car insurance will be due soon, are are actively looking for an alternative auto insurance quote to make comparison so we are sure to get a better coverage as well as pricing. The current insurance package we had was bought by the previous owner and we continued using it since it was paid till the next two months.

PiggyBeng is still evaluating the quotation as he wants to ensured the new insurance has the coverage we are looking for.

Always looking for great deals

We are always on the look out for great free and easy holiday packages. Since we can claim our flight tickets by using those frequent flyer's points we are only down with most hotel deals and car rentals deals.

Also, we try to travel during off peak period so we will have better choice of accommodations in those places we wanted to visit. During the low seasons, we can get good rooms with great views for a much lower price and sometimes with breakfast throw in.

It is time to renew again

Time flies!!!! I can't believe it that my car's road tax and insurance will expire in another month time. I thought we just got the car not too long ago.

The car insurance that my hubby got for my car is only for third party so when we are going for the renewal, we will get the comprehensive one. After chatting with my dad and my father-in-law, we were told to get the comprehensive coverage so we are protected. Not sure why hubby got the third party one in the first place.

Anyway, for my own sake, I rather get something that protect me in any case an accident happened and it critically involved me.

Dining in the Excalibur

When we were roaming around in Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas, we were duped into attending some time sharing seminars so we could get some free meal vouchers. Though we were quite hesitated in the beginning but we went anyway as we have to make a deposit... so we can't run away!

So we went for the seminar and wasted about 4 hours in total. In return we got the meal vouchers. We decided to go for dinner the same day at this Sir Galahad's Pub and Prime Ribs House inside of Excalibur Hotel. And the let down was, the ribs we were expecting were not the ribs that we wanted to eat! Well... it was an experience after all!

The dinner sucks but I kind of like the hotel. Too bad we did not get to stay there as my hubby made our Las Vegas hotel reservations without telling me. If not I will definitely choose to stay in Excalibur or Luxor which is just right behind. Luxor has one of the nicest lobby with all those mummies statues.
